Wargame SITREP 231011 N4 Supply – Compass Games Wishlist

The Compass Games 2023 Holiday Catalog arrived via snail-mail this weekend. The arrival seems a bit early to me as I seemingly remember the catalog arriving closer to Thanksgiving than weeks before Halloween. In past years I eagerly looked forward to the Compass Games catalog as it was the best lay-down of the production forecast. Nowadays you have the Compass Games YouTube channel with regular updates, but even so it is often hard to parse the status of specific games out of those info dumps.

Compass Games has also altered their pre-order system over the years with options for Pay Now, Pay Later, or even wait for their Kickstarter campaign just before release. After being burned twice on Pay Now orders when I wanted Pay Later, and growing increasingly weary of long production wait times, I almost totally switched over to using the Kickstarter. The added benefit for me is that I only buy games I want at that moment, not something that caught my eye years prior that may no longer be a theme of interest.

With those thoughts in mind, I look at the 2023 Holiday Catalog more as a wishlist than a pre-order mechanism. Sure, there are a few games here that are almost certainly “Must Buy” and will likely stay that way through to release, but others I am less certain about.

If all my wishlist games scheduled for delivery in 2024 actually deliver, those six games would triple the number of Compass Games I took in this year (2). We will see…
