My somewhat ecclectic collection of games took on another dimension this past weekend with the arrival of a new game series. Aeronef (and its companion Aeronef Captain’s Handbook) is a simple minatures aerial combat game that draws from the masters of Victorian fiction (such as H.G. Wells and Jules Verne). Aeronef postulates that the development of the “negative gravity screw” allows for flying ironclads.
Aeronef and its land-combat counterpart, Land Ironclads, fits into the “Steampunk” genre of games. These miniatures games are very simple, with an emphasis on period feel and play over any attempts at realism. Both Aeronef and Land Ironclads feature easy build-our-own design systems allowing you to customize your forces.
