DriveThruRPG is great at bringing new roleplaying game (RPG) content to my attention. Here are some titles I recently took in.
- 200 More Space Opera Odd Situations / Atelier Clandestin / $1.50, 14 pages / Any System. Fourteen pages of d20 tables with plot hooks based on a location such as Dead Planet, [15], “Surprisingly, radio waves are emitted from the surface of the planet.” Comment: Blah.
- Hard Vacuum 13: Death Cult / Adam Kovac, Boondock RPG Adventures / $5.00, 16 pages / Cepheus Engine. ” The player characters are hired to join a university-led expedition to a decomissioned asteroid refinery occupied by reclusive colonists.” Comment: Enjoyable adventure; recommended.
- No-Win Scenarios: Future Imperfect Volume 2 for Warp Space Science Fiction Roleplaying – Where every decision is lose-lose / Tom Bont, Table30PressBooks / $4.99, 23 pages / Warp Space (not required). Small scenarios with a chose-your-own adventure approach. Comment: Good…enough?
- The Scrapyard Cathedral: Setting Overview – Space Opera RPG Location Resource / $0.00, 6 pages PLUS MAP / Any System. “This is a setting for desperate edge-of-civilization gaming… . Comment: A teaser to buy full modules; no thanks, I’ll pass.
- Gunkholing / Stephen Dosman / $0.00, 27 pages / Fate Accelerated. Howard Hughes charters a ship for a fishing and hunting trip…right? Comment: It’s Fate Accelerated so I should not be surprised (or should I?) that the first major section is warnings about racist content, violence, sexism, misogyny, and religion (oh my!).
- HOSTILE Situation Report #020: Cave – An NPC or Adventure Seed for HOSTILE / Paul Elliott, Zozer Games / $0.00, 3 pages / Cepheus Engine. Survival situation. Comment: Great for HOSTILE or ALIEN: The Roleplaying Game from Free League Publishing using the Year Zero Engine.
