Wargame SITREP 25-37 ~ Somethings wrong with our bloody snowspeeders today – Star Wars: Battle of Hoth (Days of Wonder, 2025)

SITREP for Task Force Skul, Galactic Empire BLIZZARD Assault Force, Hoth

Date. 2000L250906

Unit. Task Force Skul

OPSUM. Two-platoon Snowtrooper patrol with attached Probe Droid section, supported by AT-AT “Tank,” drove off Rebel company-strength infantry unit supported by three flights of Snowspeeders; advance continues.

Enemy Activity. Encountered 4x Echo Base Trooper Squads supported by 3x Flights Snowspeeders. Enemy attempted a mobile defense but was unsuccessful. Enemy KIA – 3x Squads Troopers, 1x Flight Snowspeeders.

Friendly Forces. Task Force Skull: 6x Snowtrooper Squads with supporting Probe Droid section; AT-AT “Tank” cross-attached.

Casualties. 3x Squads BLACK for casualties (-100%), 2x Squads RED (-66%), 0x Squads AMBER (-33%), 1x Squad GREEN (100%). Probe Droid and AT-AT remain 100% combat effective.

Logistics. Sufficient to continue advance.

Personnel. Bring reserve platoon forward to replace losses in advancing units.

Commander’s Assessment. Rebel scum Snowspeeders attempted multiple attack runs on AT-AT, all to no avail. Obvious Rebel fixation on AT-AT allowed Snowtrooper units to advance and engage Rebel Troopers. Enemy Snowspeeders were serious threat but at least one section appeared unwilling to engage while another shot very poorly at AT-AT. Rebel morale almost certainly shaken by victorious Galactic Empire units.

Remarks. Imperial patrol led by Colonel code name “RMN T.” Rebel forces fixated on Snowspeeder attacks on AT-AT which statistically is low-payoff (every hit must be confirmed which only has a ~6% chance of happening). Poor Command Cards for Rebels left one Snowspeeder flight unengaged until mid-late game. RMN T made good use of terrain for protection and Command Card opportunities such as “Pressing Forward” (Order 2 units; cannot attack but move up to 2 additional hexes) to rapidly reposition AT-AT. A close run battle that literally came down to one last move by each side with the fate of the dice determining the final winner.

That dang AT-AT really is like a tank! Rolled maybe 24 dice against it for something like five possible hits, none of which were confirmed. Blast it! (photo by RMN)
