#RPGaDay2024 – Day 14 – Compelling characters

I have always enjoyed the characters in the Traveller roleplaying game or Twilight: 2000 series because characters are not heroes but (for the most part) everyday people thrust into extraordinary conditions and circumstances.

Same reason why the Imperial Guard is far and away my favorite Warhammer 40k faction.

That’s an interesting comment. I imagine you’re thinking Traveller characters have mustered out of their “hero” days, and are initially just seeking a new life? While fantasy characters are upcoming “chosen ones?”

It’s easy to be a hero when you start with buffs. But, as a player, can you take the ordinary (maybe even a bit broken) and make it a hero?
