Threat Tuesday – Iranian Navy

Much has been written about the Iranian Navy.  Many thinktank reports are out there and you can look at Jane’s and the like for order of battle.  Fortunately for us wargamers, the US Navy’s very own Office of Naval Intelligence can also offer up their Fall 2009 Iranian Navy Forces: From Guerrilla Warfare to a Modern Naval Strategy.  This slick publication has nice graphics and a basic order of battle though it lacks details on “characteristic & performance” data on Iranian platforms.  Even so, it is a good starting reference when looking at the naval situation in the modern day Persian Gulf.
