TTRPG Roll 26-3 ~ FASA Star Trek – The Klingons #charactercreationchallenge

Using The Klingons: A Sourcebook and Character Generation Supplement (FASA, 1983) for Star Trek: The Roleplaying Game (FASA, 1982). You are not a real Trekkie unless you read John M. Ford’s novel The Final Reflection (Pocket Books, 1984). As far as I am concerned the only real Klingons are “Ford Klingons.”

Kai tai-Lodor (low-door), Human Fusion, Age 31, Imperial Klingon Navy Security

Not original dice…but they should be

Hmm…From an undistinguished house yet somehow gets first cadet cruise In the Expeditionary Forces where he not only passes on first attempt but also gains a Imperial Commendation. (Does that elevate his house name?) After Command School goes back to the Expeditionary Forces but then to the Exploitation Exploration Fleet. The sourcebook implies this is a “bad thing” but given Kai spends seven years in the Exploration and Merchant/Courier Fleets I see a potential character hook that he spent several years in the service of the Imperial Contacts Branch “helping” planets of “peace-loving freedom fighters.” Now back in the Expeditionary Fleet on a K-23 Escort Kai is the Chief of Security…

Well, he also had some dealings with Orions, apparently. And no, i don’t think his house name, but might get him a higher honorific earlier?

Also security officer? And high leadership? IS or II might want to look into him. If he builds a powerbase, and with his leadership that is very much a possibility, he might be the power behind the throne on this ship. Beware the captain who did not bring enough of his own with him, when taking command

And yes, for me the Ford Klingons are also the only real klingons.

Did you ever play a klingon campaign? The one I was part of was great fun.

I played in a Klingon campaign when this supplement first came out. We were, of course, a bridge crew of a D-7. We leaned heavily into the tropes of subverting the peace-loving Feds and blasting their saucer abominations whenever the chance presented itself. Oh yes, the Orions were out bestest of friends.

Of course, those were the days of Star Trek II and Star Trek III and long before TNG so our Klingons were not pretend samurai.
