My Game of the Week adventure continues with Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship (Z-Man Games, 2025). After doing a self-teach of the rules on night 1, I moved on to setup. This took some time as I immediately decided to sleeve the Region/Event/Skies Darken cards because they are so darn thin. Unlike some customers who got damaged cards in the box mine delivered fine but even the lightest of shuffling was damaging edges. Another issue is curling cards; I don’t live in a too humid nor too dry climate but all my cards need to spend some time under a heavy book because they are curling ever-so-little.
I also have to say the little troops (and I do mean little) are a bit underwhelming. They certainly do not “pop” on the map and, frankly, are easy to get lost in the graphical clutter. I also ended up with one and one-half extra Shadow Troops…obviously walking wounded from the factory campaign.

I am playing a solo game and am now set to start. As this is a self-teach that means I will likely play a turn, reset, play again, and reset again before I “go live” with a complete play attempt. More on that to follow…
