Game of the Week
Thanks to the generosity of GMT Games and the trust of Regimental Commander Brant of The Armchair Dragoons, I spent this week playing the new Battles of the American Revolution: Tri-Pack II from designer Mark S. Miklos. I was able to get through the four historical battle scenarios: Monmouth, Germantown, Newtown, and Oriskany. I am working a larger write-up for ACD that likely will be published later this month.
Missed Connections
Well, I wanted to go to the Connections 2025 wargaming conference but my office had other plans. One pays the bills and the other does not so I (very reluctantly) bent. Of course, I ran into another office mate that was able to attend and was singing the praises of Emergency Operations Center: Wildfire Mayhem (Arthur Simental, Simental Industries, 2025) that I reviewed for The Armchair Dragoons. Made me doubly regret my decision to not go.
Great (?) Pacific War
Thanks to my Italian connection (hi Nicola!) I got an English translation of the rules for Yoshio Kubota’s The Pacific War: Deadly Bloody Battles of Combined Fleet (Bonsai Games Folio Edition, 2025). The Pacific War almost certainly will be my next Game of the Week.
Bowling wargaming
With the end of summer rapidly approaching, I (thankfully) will start a somewhat regular gaming schedule. I plan on working towards a Game of the Week starting every Sunday with the goal of learning, playing, and contemplating a new title each week. Some of my thoughts will end up posting over at The Armchair Dragoons but others will be posted here.

I also convinced my middle boy, RockyMountainNavy T, to restart our weekend game nights. In return for his commitment on Saturday nights I will be resuming bowling with him mid-week. He occasionally bowls over 260 so my presence is simply a foil for him to look at critically as he prepares himself for the next frame.
