Given that I acquired only 12 new core rulebooks—covering 11 different games—in 2024 I am placing them all in competition with one another regardless of publication date.

RMN 2024 RPG of the Year – The Electric State (Free League Publishing)
Part art book, part horror, part science fiction. Players need to read the unabridged art book to fill in parts the RPG was too afraid to include. That is even after the content warning on the back of the book:
The Electric State deals with dark and existential themes. The stories told in this game can be violent, distressing, and raise issues relating to personal morals. This is not a game for children.
The Electric State RPG, based on the art book, is also very much unlike the forthcoming Russo Brothers movie for NetFlix that seems to have taken the book and turned the story into…something else.
