Wargame SITREP 24-57 ~ JADO International

In the past few weeks I studied (and continue to study) the Joint All Domain Operations (i.e. JADO) series of wargames from War Drum Games in the PRC. In the course of my studies, I have crossed paths with many other wargamers who are also interested in the game. These fellow wargamers come from across the globe highlighting to me the power of wargaming across distance and language. We are all united in our passion for wargaming.

Here are a few of my JADO heroes:

Regimental Commander Brant from Armchair Dragoons (@ADragoons on X). It was Brant who directed me to Jack Greene who is helping bring the JADO wargames to shores outside of the PRC.

Jack Greene of Quarterdeck Games. Jack has the connection for which I am grateful. Great service too!

Gavin Hu of War Drum Games (@WDG_GavinHu on X). Gavin was gracious enough to respond on X to my article about JADO East China Sea Nav-Air Block 01A.

Javier Hoyos from Spain (@agm84 on X). Javier has earlier versions of JADO and regularly shares his replays on X. Those have been very helpful in helping me understand the games.

Bolkonski Wargamero from Spain (@BWargamero on X). @BWargamero pointed me to English translations of the rules for JADO and has shared many other links to videos and other material that has greatly assisted me in learning the JADO series of games.

wargaming-esoterica from Japan (@WEsoterica on X). The greatest service @WEsoterica provides to me are the links to their Japanese-language blog Wargaming Esoterica where they have posted after action reports (AARs) and other commentary about the JADO series. Again, another invaluable resource to assist my learning.

What we literally have going on is…

…an American wargamer posting articles about a Chinese-language wargame…

…on a U.S.-based website which helped source the wargame through a small U.S. wargame publisher…

…with translations and other commentary from Spanish and Japanese wargamers.

The international wargaming community is truly great and I am very happy to have even a small part in such a wonderful group.

Hello, my name is John Rainey. I’ve recently picked up the AirSea component of the North China Sea set of this game series. JADO2-A and it’s 5 or so expansions. I don’t have the First ground component game JADO-2B. A friend of mine was able to find ZunTzu game sets. We’ve not been able to find an for the 2-x series. Do you know of anyone that might have those or knows where they might be on the Web?

I’d like to extract them and after getting permission make a Vassal Module for these games. I’ve been making modules for several companies for about 7 or so years.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Looked. It appears you have a leg up on me with ANY ZunTzu set (I hold none).

Thanks for the effort. Still looking. It appears that lots of the companies activity is on ‘X’ which I don’t do, no any other of that type. Also scored JADO-2B, just need the airsea 2A now.

Keep looking. Though it is on X the community for JADO is truly international (US, Spain, Japan, etc.).
