What is an “evocative environment” in a TTRPG?
- Is it the setting?
- Is it the “environment” the TTRPG creates at the table? (Should that not be the role of the Referee and Players?).
- Is it the game mechanism and theme?
The closest I can figure is a TTRPG that uses rules or a core game mechanism that is evocative of the setting or theme of the game being played. If you accept that definition then I would answer with the James Bond 007 roleplaying game from Victory Games in 1983. While some people complain the Ease Factor rules are a bit hard to game with I strongly believe that, more so than any other game mechanism, those rules tie the game to the setting or theme in a manner that gives every player, 00 or not, the chance to create incredible action scenes with cool gadgets and weapons and stunts.
