Sohn Wol-il is one of the new Type 214/1700 submarines built for the ROKN.  There have been several reports over the past year in the Korean press that the air-independent propulsion (AIP) plant on this class has not been sucessful.  The event shown was on the occasion of a National Assembly inspection – or audit – of the armed forces.
